New community brings new life to small-town living 5

Durham Farms now open in Hendersonville

Many are drawn to Hendersonville for its small-town feel, but with all the recent growth, residents may wonder if that charm will last. If Durham Farms developer Freehold Communities has anything to say about it, the answer is a resounding yes.

Durham Farms will have more than 1,000 homes on 472 acres along Drakes Creek Road once complete, yet it will reflect Freehold’s “Vital Communities” approach which emphasizes healthy living, engagement, connectivity, stewardship and strong design.

The center of that design is the front porch. One of the most important spaces in a Southern home, the front porch is where you relax, enjoy a pitcher of sweet tea, watch the kids play and, most importantly, share life with neighbors who’ve become dear friends. And it’s a distinctive feature of homes throughout the community which offers four different builders for phase one.

“We are thrilled to partner with some of the top builders in the country to create Durham Farms,” says Suzanne Maddalon, Vice President of Marketing for Freehold Communities. She continues, “Our builders will emphasize quality and value as they help us create a community with authenticity, individuality, and lasting character.”

Durham Farms’ builders include Celebration Homes, Drees Homes, David Weekley Homes and Lennar Homes. Home sizes range from 1,800-3,500 square feet with prices from the low $300,000s to the $400,000s.

It’s all in the details for Celebration Homes as Kim Barrett, sales manager, describes how they strive to meet the needs of today’s buyer with simple elegance and luxury features. She says, “Our “Easy Living” collection of homes offer Farmhouse, Classical, French Country and Victorian styles with 10-foot ceilings, 8-foot doors, outdoor covered living spaces and rear-entry garages.”

For Drees Homes, it’s about “featuring homes for every walk of life, just like Durham Farms,” says Travis Chapman, market manager, Nashville Division. He says, “We have plans for young families who are starting to plan for the future, as well as move up buyers who need more space for an expanding family. What we are really excited about is our brand new series of plans for empty nesters who are downsizing and prefer one-level living.”

But to have that true sense of neighborhood, that small-town essence, you must go beyond the home itself. Durham Farms has done just that with a list of amenities that foster connection and healthy living including:

  • Nearly three miles of paved trails
  • Clubhouse with Wi-Fi café, fitness room and outdoor courtyard with personal training and fitness classes
  • Playground and resort-style pool with splash pad
  • Village Green and other large green spaces
  • Neighborhood parks with bench swings throughout
the community
  • Calendar of events throughout the year coordinated by an on-site Activities Director

In all, when you combine the comfort and connectedness of the new Durham Farms with the wealth of current and coming options the area offers,  it’s clear Hendersonville really does provide the best of both worlds.
