KEY Lifelong Learning Lecture Series at Vol State

Plant-based nutrition, the Vietnam War, Saudi Arabia and life on Earth are a few of the topics in the KEY Lifelong Learning Lecture Series scheduled at Volunteer State Community College this fall. The lectures began in September continue through October. Everyone is welcome to register and attend.

KEY stands for “Keep Educating Yourself.” The classes will be held in Caudill Hall on the Vol State campus. People can register by calling 615.230.3358 or visiting the Vol State campus. The series enrollment fee is $49.

TriStar Health Opens CareNow Clinic in Rivergate-Madison Area

TriStar Health opened its 13th CareNow Urgent Care location on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 2003 Gallatin Pike North in Madison. This clinic is the latest addition to the network of locations spread across Middle Tennessee. Each clinic  provides a wide range of medical services with the extended hours, walk-in visits and web check-in. 

“This new location in Madison will allow us to offer patients in the community convenient access to high-quality, non-emergency medical care close to where they live and work,” said Heather Rohan, president and CEO of TriStar Health.

 

CPA Basketball Coach Drew Maddux Hits Blindfolded Trick Shot

Longtime Christ Presbyterian Academy boys basketball coach and former Vanderbilt hoopster Drew Maddux added another page to the record books by hitting a blindfolded shot from the top of the Omni Hotel in downtown Nashville on Aug. 10. This latest trick shot success occurred on his 355th attempt, with the basketball traveling approximately 362 feet in the air before hitting the basket located on Fifth Avenue.

Drew regularly attempts various basketball trick shots at different venues to help encourage, motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams.

Guitars and Cadillacs: The Photography of Marty Stuart

Tennessee art and music fans receive a rare opportunity to meet music superstar Marty Stuart at the opening reception of Guitars & Cadillacs: The Photography of Marty Stuart with special guest guitar sculptor Jennifer Quigley at Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center Sunday, Oct. 7. Guests of the intimate gathering will be treated to a special performance of an original telltale song about the life of Marty’s good friend and American music legend Johnny Cash. This performance is scheduled for 5 p.m.
